Dear Community Leaders,

We, the Houston Jewish community, stand in deep solidarity with our Israeli family as they defend themselves against Iran’s nuclear capabilities. During this pivotal moment, your partnership is more vital than ever to help strengthen, secure, and rebuild Israel. As you might have seen, the Federation is asking the community to give generously to our Israel Response Fund so we can continue to provide our brothers and sisters in Israel the support they need.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Houston

A Way to Act

We know everyone is hurting. Here is a way for you to take action.

Jewish Federation of Greater Houston has opened a fund to meet the immediate and ongoing needs on the ground. Visit houstonjewish.org/supportisrael to donate now.

Jewish Federations have identified the following urgent priority needs requiring our immediate collective assistance:

  • Basic Needs: Food and financial assistance for impacted families, the elderly, and the homebound.
  • Evacuation, Housing, Respite, and Support for Frontline Communities:  Including support for communities under fire and for new olim living in absorption centers through evacuations, temporary housing, respite trips, children’s activities, and increased security.
  • Funds for Victims of Terror: The Jewish Agency for Israel’s Funds for Victims of Terror is a key part of our standing emergency response capacity that provides immediate cash grants to families and individuals who have been impacted by acts of terror and violence, for post-trauma care, etc.
  • Trauma Relief and Psychosocial Care: To support widescale trauma relief and psychosocial support with expanded capabilities through telephone hotlines; providing direct care to first responders, Lone Soldiers, the injured, and families whose relatives were murdered, injured, or abducted; training and support for caregivers and responders including hospital emergency teams and municipal teams.
  • Emergency Medical Services and Healthcare: Medical supplies and equipment for first responders and hospitals in close proximity to the front line.

Where the Money is Going
100% of the funds will be distributed to support victims of terror, medical support, trauma recovery, crisis management, and direct lifesaving relief efforts via our trusted overseas partners who know the needs on the ground such as the Jewish Agency for Israel, the Joint Distribution Committee, and others.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Houston has opened a local fund that will be disbursed to provide relief in connection with Jewish Federations of North America.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Houston is in close contact with their overseas partners and they anticipate an unprecedented need to assist victims of terror and their families. Now, more than ever, they need your support. Israel will prevail and the Jewish people will stand together as we always do. Am Yisrael Chai.
