Rabbi Ranon Teller

Shalom all,

Next year, we’ll be experimenting with a few different services and learning opportunities. The goal is to offer a diverse menu of Shabbat services to help you connect to your Judaism and your Jewish soul on a regular basis. You are travelling on your own unique Jewish Journey with your own unique set of Jewish needs, tastes, and styles. The diversification we are offering will make it easier for you to find your connection at a Brith Shalom service. Dates and times for next year will be available soon.

Shabbat Morning

Main Sanctuary Minyan

On the the 3rd Shabbat of each month, a rotation of members will prepare study sessions as an alternative to the traditional Torah service. The first series begins on June 16, led by Andy Hoffman. The topic will be the Book of Judges (Shoftim).

Alternative Minyan

Several times throughout the year, we will offer an alternative Shabbat morning minyan at the Bellaire Nature Center. Renamed from the Lab Minyan to the Kavannah Minyan, this service is a progressive alternative to the traditional main sanctuary service. The informal, participatory service is accompanied by acoustic instruments to encourage the community to sing with joyful intensity.  Its Torah service is comprised of three group aliyot, encouraging participants to be in relationship with each other and the Torah. Together, we explore possibilities through music, spirit, rhythm, nature, and community.

Friday night

In addition to our successful, family-friendly Friday Night Ruach on the 3rd Friday of each month, we will also offer a different kind of instrumental service on the first Friday of the month. Introducing the Neshama Minyan: a soulful, musical service followed by an elegant, catered Shabbat dinner (with an RSVP and a cost). The service will take place in the multi-purpose room with soft lighting and a soulful vibe.
