We sing our mournful songs as a reminder of our shared, tragic Jewish history. Arising from the ashes, we find the strength to create a strong, vibrant, and peaceful future.

Tisha B'Av commemorates the destruction of both the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem (586 BCE and 70 CE respectively. On Tisha B’Av, Eicha (the Book of Lamentations) is chanted with a unique trope, a system of mournful biblical notes.

In 2023, Tisha b'Av begins at sunset on Wednesday, July 26th.
