Guest Speaker Rabbi Ari Vernon "Jewish Parenting from a Father's Perspective"
What does it mean to be a Jewish father today? What roles should we take on? What should we focus on with our children? What can we learn from the great teachers of our tradition? We will explore Jewish wisdom from the ancient world through today that can inspire and guide us in our journeys as Jewish fathers. While this session is directed towards those actively raising children in their home, it is open to all.
Rabbi Ari Vernon is the Judaic Studies Department Chair at The Emery/Weiner School where he has served since 2009. A graduate of the American Jewish University in Los Angeles and the Rabbinical School of the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, Rabbi Ari has spent his career in youth education primarily at the teen level and including all ages at Temple Sinai in West Houston where he is a member of the religious school faculty.
Even more important than the numerous ways he promotes Judaism and serves the Jewish people is his commitment to his children, Lev (17), Eiden (16), and Ahava (12). When he has time to engage his playful side, Rabbi Ari also enjoys doing yoga, watching sports, playing guitar and Minecraft, and building with Lego.
