Join us for an engaging and meaningful new Zoom class, "Deep Diving Into Our Prayers" with Cantor Levine.
In this class, we will delve into the Saturday morning service. We will explore the structure, history, and theology reflected by the prayers, in order to understand Jewish values and struggles across the centuries until today.
Together we will address the many topics confronted by the service: a Jewish lens on evil, chosenness, life after death, Jewish identity, why Kaddish, and much more.
Paraphrasing the words of Abraham Joshua Heschel, prayer is not meant to make us comfortable with our world, but to make us uncomfortable--to challenge us, to get out of our self-serving mindset, and to emerge ready to partner with God in the reparation of the world.

- Classes begin on Sunday, June 7, at 10:00 AM via Zoom and continue weekly throughout the summer.
- Open to the entire congregation, friends, and family. No registration necessary.
- The last four weeks of class will focus on the liturgy of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, as we approach the High Holidays.
- Regular participation is beneficial and recommended since some elements build upon previous learning. Each session can also stand on its own, so come when you can.
- Except for the last four High Holiday sessions, Cantor Levine has been presenting the content of this class in his Friday Zoom@Noon sessions that began after Passover. Join us if you have not been able to attend on a Friday or if you'd like to dive in a second time.
