In June, we began a monthly learning session on Shabbat Morning. The learning consists of series of 3 to 4 monthly sessions on a specific topic. The topic of the first series is Sefer Shoftim (Judges) and is being facilitated by Andy Hoffman. Andy is leading discussions which include perspectives from archaeology, anthropology, history, and our biblical text.
In October, We will continue our engagement with the book of Judges, focusing on Chapters 19-21. Once you click the link at the top of this page, go to "Shoftim Conclusion".
On November 17, we will begin the second Shabbat Study series, led by Debbie Kagan. Titled “What We Talk About When We Talk About Torah," Debbie's series will deal with approaches to interpreting Torah. Each of the four sessions will focus on a biblical episode to illustrate and explore the topic.
On January 19, we will continue the Shabbat Study series, being led by Debbie Kagan. The series is titled “What We Talk About When We Talk About Torah,” and deals with approaches to interpreting Torah. Each of the four sessions focuses on a biblical episode to illustrate and explore the topic. On January 19, we will discuss "What happened at Sinai, part 2?". Be prepared for some new insghts.
On March 16, we begin our third Shabbat Study series to be led by Sue Resnick. The title of Sue’s series is Psalms.
The (tentative) schedule of topics:
March 16 - Introduction: Everything you ever knew about Psalms is wrong
April 6 - Daily Psalms (Note date change to first Shabbat of the month due to Pesah)
May 18 - Psalms, Prophecy, and the End of Days
June 15 - Psalms to be Sung
For these sessions, please bring a Tanach or a book of the Psalms that has the Psalms in Hebrew and English. Only a few books will be available at the meetings.

We are making abundant material available to you to prepare for your participation, including copies of the Shoftim text in Hebrew and English translation. (Alternatively, you are welcome to use your own Tanah.) We will share these texts and articles for you to download from a Dropbox. Please print out your own copies if you want them and have them available during the study sessions.
We request that participants print and bring with them the materials to be used in the learning session. A very limited number of copies of the materials will be available at the session itself.
