The purpose of this special Shabbat service is to honor those people who have survived cancer, those who are undergoing treatment for cancer, and also those who have been involved with a friend or family member as a caretaker or as a support, as well as those who may have lost someone to cancer.
During the service, Cristina Vetrano, the CEO of CanCare, will speak about CanCare, a volunteer organization that provides one on one support to cancer patients and their caregivers free of charge. Many congregations across Houston and the surrounds are members of CanCare, including our own Brith Shalom, and are participants in celebrating survivorship, support for those undergoing treatment, and all those who have been involved with or lost a loved one or friend.
We are asking those persons who are survivors or are being treated for cancer to let us know if you would like to serve as a greeter or be involved in some capacity. The purpose is to encourage people not to endure cancer alone and realize they are a part of this community!
If you have any questions about CanCare, Marty Buck is the CBS CanCare volunteer representative. You may contact her at 713 703-1496
