Jack Schlossberg will speaking about the National and Local organization of the Jewish War Veterans, and will give  a history of Jewish participation in the wars of the United States.

Jack Schlossberg was born a Baby Boomer to a Bronx family. He grew up in the shadows of Yankee Stadium and from his early years through high school witnessed the team in its glory years. He attended New York City Public Schools and graduated from the City of New York University System with a degree in Political Science.

Jack enlisted in the 69th Infantry Regiment, 42nd Divsion, the Famed Rainbow Division. When he moved to Houston Jack transferred to the 75th Manuever Area Command which was located at the Reserve Center @ Fanin & Old Spanish Trail. He was trained as a Non-Commissioned Officer ( NCO ) in the use of Chemical, Biological, and Chemical Warfare ( CBR ). He was honorably discharged in 1977 with the rank of Staff Sgt. Jack retired from HISD after 31 years as a classroom teacher.

It has been his honor and privilege to be Commander of Post 574, Jewish War Veterans since 2014.

The JWV (Jewish War Veterans) is the oldest established Veterans organization in America. A number of Jewish Civil Veterans were constantly hearing that Jews did not contribute to the war effort, and decided to do something about this misconception. The JWV was chartered in 1896. Since that time, the JWV has worked and testified in Congress on innumerable occasions of behalf of ALL Veterans.

Although we are obviously small in number, the JWV has the respect and attention of Administrations and Congress when invited to Washington to speak on Veterans affairs,
