Aaron Howard will present a two-part (virtual) fall mini-series “Judaism in the Postmodern Age: An Introduction To the Thought of Rabbi Shagar” on October 18 and 25 at 5 PM.

Postmodern skepticism, relativism, subjectivism, general suspicion of reason and understanding that no general theory of the natural or social world can be valid or true (all are illegitimate meta-narrratives) would appear to leave no room for the religious Jew. Not so argued Rabbi Shagar. While other religious figures found postmodern skepticism threatening, Rabbi. Shagar found it liberating.

An Israeli member of the Religious Zionist yeshiva community, Rabbi. Shagar’s thinking is largely unknown in the U.S. This mini-series will look at his major theoretical works that have been translated in the collection "Faith shattered And Restored.
