Friday & Saturday, March 15 - 16: Men’s Club Shabbat, honoring our Man of the Year: Earl Spielman.
Each year, the Men’s Club recognizes one member who has given years of service to the synagogue, devotion to the Men’s Club, and best exemplifies the ideals that motivate us. This year, the Men's Club Shabbat honors the CBS Men's Club Man of the Year: Earl Spielman.
Earl has been a member of CBS for decades, and is currently vice-chair of the Men’s Club.
Earl came to Houston from Buffalo, New York in late 1979. Earl, like many who came here, took full advantage of the many opportunities Houston offered: Working for Brown & Root, starting as a chief accountant at one of its subsidiaries and ending up as Corporate Credit Administrator for The Marine Operations Division. While there, Earl went to Law School at night, finishing up in only 3 years and one semester obtaining his Doctorate of Jurisprudence.
Earl has been practicing Law for over 30 years. Earl also owns Gotham Pizza, a well known Midtown Restaurant, for many years as well.
Earl also has another passion besides cooking, and that is as an ornithologist, which he refers to as being a "Bird Brain". He lectures occasionally and leads tours to nature reserves and parks to enjoy Texas birding adventures. His other hobbies are fishing and coin collecting.
