Rabbi Elie KaunferFriday night and Saturday, February 12-13, 2010 Rabbi Elie Kaunfer is the co-founder and executive director of Mechon Hadar, an institute for prayer, personal growth and Jewish study, and co-founder of Kehillat Hadar, an independent, egalitarian minyan committed to spirited traditional prayer, study, and social action. He is also the founder of Yeshivat Hadar, the first full-time egalitarian yeshiva in North America. Friday night, February 12, immediately following services: The Mystical Meaning of Lekha Dodi - Lekha Dodi is the high point of the Kabbalistic Friday night service, Kabbalat Shabbat. Come explore the deeper kabbalistic meanings encoded in the text of this prayer. Saturday, February 13, following Kiddush: The Cairo Geniza: Torn Papers, Radical Prayers - Come learn how crumpled papers in a forgotten attic can change our understanding of prayer. Rabbi Kaunfer will also be teaching 2 classes at Yom Limmud on Sunday,February 14: "How Can I Pray What I Don't Believe?," and "The Next Chapter: How Empowered Young Jews Are Changing American Judaism." |
